Simian Mobile Disco, alter ego of James Ford and James Anthony Shaw, has in the last couple years been a good number two in the blog-house scene. The duo has since realising their first album, ”Attack Decay Sustain Release”, been in the shadow of almost world dominators Justice and their crusade against minimalism. “Attack Decay Sustain Release” got mostly brilliant reviews all over, but the music was stuck in the blog-sphere, to many people’s unfortune.
But will they rise again? Their second album is in the making and probably not far away. Two tracks have been released since February and it’s looking good. The newest addition, “10 000 Horses Can’t Be Wrong” keeps on going where the brilliant, probably soon to be anthem, “Synthesise” left off. A well working recipe.
Although the music is good, it’s still not the part of SMD’s new singles I like the most. The videos are brilliant. Kate Moross and Alex Sushon have made two hypnotising videos with the help of one wall, one strobe light and one projector.
Animated circles spastically dances their way through the tracks on a warehouse wall. Its simplicity is inspiring and the videos leads the way for a probably successful comeback for Simian Mobile Disco in 2009.
