November 17th is the release date for new art and design magazine Elephant.
Elephant is a “direct, sincere and multi-disciplinary” look into the art-world. The man behind the magazine is Marc Valli, the owner of Magma bookshops, who previously published Graphics magazine. In the first edition their will be interviews with Peter Saville and Fernando Gutiérrez, a look into Scandinavian fashion design, Tony Brook and Adrian Shaughnessy explains how to start a publishing company and Elephant gives you a “Creative City Guide: things to do in Sao Paulo when you are not dead”
The magazine is chopped up into 5 bits. Meetings (Ideas, Personality and Cultures) Research (Forecast, movements and styles) Studios (Canvases, papers and screens) Economies (Create your own economy) Cities (Creative City Guide) should cover as much as one could in the design world.
The art direction and design is made by Matt Willey, Studio 8 design (Who also did Graphic magazine). Elephant is following their amazing editorial work for MAP, Graphic and Plastique magazine, with a strong typographic language.
