Friendly Fires released a new single and an expanded version of their debut album, “Friendly Fires”, yesterday. “Kiss of Life” is the single, and judging by its sound, Vampire Weekend and their heavily African infused Indie-pop has had a big influence on the Indie scene since last year. Ed Macfarlane’s vocals are fresh and funky, as they’ve always been, but a massive drumline has overtaken the backgroud, and with a film shot at some other tropical beach with exotic maskes, the new single makes for a bit more worldly Friendly Fires in 2009.

“Kiss of Life” will be included in the extended re-release of their debut album from 2008, “Friendly Fires”. The new edition will include one disc with the album as we heard it last year and a second disc with four new song, including “Kiss of Life”, different remixes of “Skeleton Boy”, “Paris”, “Jump In the Pool” and “White Diamonds”. In addition to all of this goodness, a b-side with four music videos and a live recording from The Forum on the 15th may, 2009 is also included on the second disc. You can get it at your record store, or through the iTunes store (excluding the live recording from The Forum)
