Vampire Weekend have finally given us a release date for their second album. After a busy year and a half headlining festivals around the world with their selftitled debut album, its time to hear something new from these guys. The new album titled, ‘Contra’ will be released on January 12, 2010. Record label XL has been cautious about leaks from ‘Contra’. So there is almost no “sneak-peaks” from this album. However they have been playing ‘White Sky’ for quite some time now as part of their gigs. So here is a clip of ‘White Sky’ performed at the Pitchfork festival. Speaking of Vampire Weekend. Keyboardist and producer Rostam Batmanglij released an album with his sideproject Discovery back in july. Together with Ra Ra Riots Wes Miles they introduced ‘LP’, a dubby R&B number. They got some interesting things going on heres and some nice collaborations, such as the gorgeous Angel Deradoorian of Dirty Projectors and Vampire Weekend lead singer Ezra Koenig. And ‘LP’ is a good listen but it leaves me with the feeling that this is more of an experiment than anything else.
