Patricia Thompson

Another good photographer i wanted to post here after Kim Høltermand the other week (almost starting to look like a photography series this) is Patricia Thompson. She caught my eye with the picture above. The composition and colours in that photo really struck a cord in me and after a closer look at her website, I got even more intrigued. The “Abstract Urbanism” series was especially appealing to me. I love the way architecture, patterns, shapes and shadows overlap to distort the motifs. As she explains:

“The challenge for the Abstract Urbanism project is to break through the primary level of formal representation when photographing architecture. My images are composed with identifiable subject matters, but I strive to visually transform them to become new iconographic possibilities.”

Nuff said.

Patricia Thompson is originally from Brazil, but after a short while at Camberwell College of Arts in London, she moved to New York to attend Parsons School of Design. She now lives and works in NY.

Definitely check out her website!
