Teenage Engineering

Teenage Engineering makes really (really) nice looking things from their Stockholm studio. The first thing that caught my eye was the OP-1 synth. It looks amazing, with a fun, minimalistic design, but it actually seems like a very resourceful little music box as well. Doubling as a synth, sequencer, sampler and controller, the 282 x 102 x 13.5 mm big/little thing has some very nice features (see video at the bottom of the post). Everything is colour coded and the all information is nicely designed and visible on a little LCD display. Its going to be put out for sale in not tooo long, and will cost a little under $1000.

Another quite fancy little gadget from Teenage Engineering is the Styrofoam turntable. Unfortunately, the turntable has only been made once, for “research purposes”, and will probably never be made for sale. But that doesn’t change the fact that it’s very stylish, made out of high density Styrofoam in the same size as a LP cover. The D-I-Y record player has the same fun minimalistic design as the OP-1, and I would be willing to pay quite a lot to get hold of one.
